Your Hospital Bill
Your hospital bill reflects the services you received during your stay. A basic daily room rate includes:
- Your room
- Your meals
- Nursing care
In addition, there may be charges for special services, which include items your physician orders for you, such as X-rays or laboratory tests.
If you have certain tests or treatments in the hospital, you may receive a bill from a doctor whom you did not see in person. These bills are for providers who diagnosed and interpreted test results while you were a patient. Pathologists, cardiologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists and other specialists who perform these services are required to submit separate bills.

Your Financial Counselor
The financial counselors in Patient Financial Services will assist you in any way possible. Do not hesitate to ask any questions about charges and billing, including questions about Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. A financial counselor can be reached at 919-938-7159.
Online Bill Pay
We offer convenient online billing through our secure patient portal, My UNC Chart. Sign up and pay your hospital and physician bills at your convenience. You can view your statements, account details and manage your account online. You have the option to choose paperless billing.
