Become a Volunteer
The contribution of time and effort from volunteers is a huge asset to patients, visitors, and staff at Johnston Health. Whether directly or indirectly involved with patients, the role of a volunteer is to help make the patient's hospital encounter a positive experience. Volunteers are important to Johnston Health because they provide personal attention, assistance, and warmth to our patients and their families.
We offer several volunteer programs to provide an opportunity to as many people as possible:
This program runs during the summer months, and is open to high school or college students who are at least 15 years of age.
Our Spiritual Care Services is staffed mainly by volunteer chaplains, and we are always looking for more local chaplains to join this program.
Qualifications for volunteers vary according to the respective position. Attributes and qualifications essential for all volunteer assignments include stability, dependability, ability to relate to people, and ability to make a time commitment to the program.
