Patient Care
Partnering in Safety
Your safety as a patient at Johnston Medical Center is very important to us. As a patient, you have a vital role in receiving safe care by being informed and active in your health care.
Please help us provide safe care by asking questions or telling us your concerns about your care.
- If possible, bring a family member to participate in asking questions or voicing concerns.
- Ask about medications and tests you are receiving and what they are for.
- Tell your doctor or nurse if something doesn’t appear or feel right.
What can I expect?
- You will be asked your name and your identification wristband will be checked whenever you have a test done or are given medication.
- Expect health care providers to introduce themselves to you when they come into your room.
How can I help?
- Bring a list of all your medications to the hospital with the amounts you take.
- Include over-the-counter medications, herbal supplements and vitamins.
- Tell your doctors and nurses about any allergies or problems you have had with medications in the past or are currently having.
- Be sure to ask questions if a newly prescribed medication looks different or unusual.
- Make sure the information you need is written down so you can understand it.
- Make sure you know how to use any medical equipment you will need at home.
- Make sure you understand all the information you receive by asking as many questions as you need to.
