Johnston Medical Center is operated by Johnston Memorial Hospital Authority DBA Johnston Health, a North Carolina hospital authority, which is a special type of corporation created by Johnston County under the North Carolina Hospital Authorities Act. The chairman of the County Board of Commissioners appoints the members of the governing board of the Authority, called a Board of Commissioners, from nominees submitted by the Board of Commissioners of the Authority.
