New executive director, Hector Perez
Over the last 20 years, Perez has been responsible for fundraising and foundation management.
He has operated nonprofits, managed private sector and business projects, handled communications and marketing for health care corporations and served as a senior manager in county government.
He has also worked as a consultant for statewide organizations.
Mabel Yelvington of Smithfield, a Foundation board member, described Perez as energetic, personable and experienced. She said the board needed such qualities in a director as it takes on a $3.8 million capital campaign to build an inpatient hospice center.
Perez is a resident of Johnston County (Smithfield).
