About the Foundation

 The Johnston Health Foundation
The Johnston Health Foundation was formed in 1992 as a nonprofit organization to raise money for the hospital. The board members consist of 25 members that represent a cross section of the county. The board meets bimonthly to vote on and discuss the business of the Foundation. There are three committees that do the work of the Foundation. The development committee and the finance committee also meet bimonthly. The nominating committee meets three times a year. There are also subcommittees that are created for event fundraising and other annual fundraising activities.

Foundation Events:
The Johnston Health Foundation is well known for its annual golf tournament that has been a part of the hospital since the 1980's. This event has allowed for hospital care partners and community members to show support for the hospital by being a sponsor or participating in the event.

The Johnston Health Champions 5K and Family Fun Day is a new fundraising event that the Foundation has taken on in 2012. This event will allow for community members and staff to participate in a healthy event at the hospital while raising money for a good cause.

Memorial and Honor Gifts:
Touch the lives of others with a meaningful gift to remember, honor or express gratitude for a friend or loved one.

  • Memorial Gift
A beautiful expression of sympathy - establishing a memorial, which will live on in the name of the individual, is an appropriate means of expressing sympathy to family members and to associates of bereaved persons.
  • Honor Gift
A reflection of recognition or gratitude - an honor gift is appreciated on such occasions as the recovery of a friend or loved one from a serious illness or accident, a birthday or anniversary, or for an achievement by an associate or relative. In lieu of a gift, honor that person by establishing a Living Memorial in his or her name with the Johnston Health Foundation. A personal acknowledgment will follow each gift - When your gift is received, a personal letter will be sent to the family or honoree to inform them of your expression of generosity and thoughtfulness. The amount of your gift will not be disclosed.

Grateful Patient Program:
This program provides patients and families with a way to give back and recognize a physician, nurse or other staff member that played a special role in their care. A gift can be made in a department or individuals honor. When a gift is made, the person or department you are honoring will be sent a letter along with your personalized card.

Annual Holiday Campaigns:
The holiday season is a time for giving back to the community, remembering those we have lost and honoring our loved ones.

  • Memory Angel Campaign
This campaign will take place during the months of November and December. Local stores and businesses will sell a memory angel for $1. Community members can purchase an angel and write a name in honor of someone that they know that has battled cancer. All proceeds go to support the Angel Fund.
  • Tree of Light Campaign
Letters are sent out to past donors of the SECU Hospice House and Home Health requesting a donation in memory or in honor of someone that has passed. The person that is acknowledged goes into a memory book that is placed by the tree of lights in the medical mall during the holiday season. All proceeds go to support the SECU Hospice House and Home Health.
