Ann Coley named November Ambassador

Ann Coley of Stancil’s Chapel is the Johnston Health Ambassador of the Month for November. She is an advanced nursing assistant at Johnston Hematology & Oncology, which is informally called the cancer center.
In presenting the award, CEO Chuck Elliott described Coley as compassionate, caring, dedicated, Ann Coleyreliable, helpful and enthusiastic. "She offers a standard that everyone should try to attain," he said. "She is the lighthouse for her department."

Coley has worked at Johnston Health for five years"three of those at the cancer center, which is located in the Johnston Medical Mall in Smithfield. Prior to her job in health care, she worked for nearly 40 years at J&J Apparel, a textile company in Kenly.

Sandra Zorn, who is director of the cancer center, says Coley brims with initiative. "If she’s not checking patients in, then she’s helping in the chart room or assisting nurses," she says. "You don’t have to ask because she anticipates what needs be done."

Coley says she’s thrilled to receive the recognition. "It was a very surprising, happy day," she adds. "But everyone I work with could have qualified for the Ambassador award. Everyone."
