Johnston Health congratulates Jesse C. Pittard, M.D.,
2010 North Carolina Family Physician of the Year
Personalized health care that's based on serving families and built upon long-lasting, personal relationships:
That's the core philosophy of Dr. Jesse C. Pittard, a family physician from Smithfield and the recipient of the 2010 North Carolina Family Physician of the Year Award. The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians honored Dr. Pittard with the award during a brief ceremony in Asheville
in early December. Dr. Pittard is a founding partner of Horizon Family Medicine. Since 1980, the practice has grown to include 12 physicians, 50 staff members and clinic sites in Smithfield, Clayton, Four Oaks and Princeton.
Horizon offers a full scope of patient and family health care services, and the group has always stressed easy patient access. Throughout his medical career serving patients in Johnston County, Dr. Pittard has been a leading advocate for patient-focused, high quality care that’s personalized. He is also actively involved in the medical leadership of Johnston Medical Center-Smithfield, where he has served three terms as medical chief of staff.
Dr. Pittard earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1973, attended medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill and completed his residency training at Wake Forest University in 1980. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Also, he serves as a family medicine preceptor to medical students from all state-based medical schools. The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, Inc. is a nonprofit professional association headquartered in Raleigh representing nearly 2,800 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students across North Carolina. It is the largest medical specialty association in North Carolina and is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
